Amazon Fire Stick vs Roku - Side By Side Comparison

As cable tv continues to escalate in price more and more people are cutting the cable cord and going for solutions like Hulu and Netflix. The real question many of us are trying to answer is what device does the best job of delivering these cable alternatives. Today we look at the Roku vs Amazon Fire Stick. There are pros and cons with each device so let's take a look.

Sure there ares some similarities. First, both feature a dual band antenna. Second, both are small, sleek and easily fit your systems HDMI port. But this is about all these two products have in common.

Now let's look at the differences that will shape your decision as far as a purchase is concerned!

The Roku has the more sophisticated search feature. Fire Stick simply can't compete with the level and depth of search that Roku produces. Roku brags of a faster load up time for Netflix and with the popularity of Netflix this is a nice win. Roku also sports the availability of far more apps.

So why even consider the Amazon Fire Stick? Well there are several reasons. First, Ram storage is far greater than Roku 1 Gig to 516 Mb. The flash memory is a wopping 8 Gig to only 216 Mb for Roku. When it comes to game playing the Fire Stick is in kick butt mode. Fire Stick can support Dolby surround sound and Roku can't. The Fire boots up quicker, launches streaming faster  and responds to remote commands faster too. The Fire Stick comes with a HDMI extension whick is not included with Roku.

Sure Roku has great search function and huge selection of apps but when it comes to these other side by side comparisons the Fire Stick is the clear winner.

The real clincher in the decision process comes with the initial cost. Roku Streaming Stick goes for just under $50 and the Fire Stick for $10 less.

Here's to your good luck in telling the cable company they are no longer needed and rest assured that which ever way you go with Roku or Fire Stick you are going to save money.
